Checkers offers a simple chess experience where you need to make smart moves. Plan your moves to capture your opponent's pieces to win the challenge.

How to capture pieces in Checkers

To win the championship, you need to understand the rules of the game clearly and think to create new strategies, good reflexes, and conquer all difficult challenges. Your task in the game is to capture all of the opponent's pieces or prevent the opponent from moving. In this case, the champion will be the one who eliminates all of the opponent's pieces or makes the opponent no longer have a valid move. Try similar versions like 247 Checkers to practice thinking with these chess games.

Understand the basic rules

  • Move: The piece usually only moves diagonally forward.
  • Capture: Jump diagonally over the opponent's piece into the empty square behind to remove that piece from the board. You can capture continuously if you have a valid chain of moves.

Effective capture strategy

  • Observation before moving: Always consider the opponent's next moves. Don't move the piece superficially and get captured.
  • Take advantage of cross-play: If you have the opportunity to win consecutively, take advantage of it to quickly reduce the number of your opponent's pieces.
  • Keep the center pieces: Pieces in the center of the board control more squares, making it easier to coordinate attack and defense.
  • Avoid leaving pieces on the edge of the board: Pieces on the edge are easily captured by the opponent without being able to counterattack.
  • Divide the pieces carefully: Do not let many pieces be forced into one row, avoiding being captured in a chain.
  • Keep pieces in the back row for protection: Some pieces in the back row help prevent the opponent from kinging too early.

How to win at Checkers

Winning is extremely easy if you master the rules and directions to keep your pieces safe. Play other games like Soroban to improve your winning skills and create quick winning strategies.

Prepare the chessboard and chess pieces:

  • Chessboard: 8x8 squares, alternating light and dark colors
  • Chess pieces: Each player has 12 pieces, placed on the first 3 rows on their side.
  • Normal pieces: Only move diagonally forward one empty square.
  • Taking pieces: Jump diagonally over the opponent's piece into the empty square behind to remove that piece. If there is a consecutive eating chain, it can be done all.
  • King: When a piece reaches the opponent's last row, it becomes a King, can move diagonally back and forth, increasing the ability to attack and defend.
  • Compulsory eating: In some variations, if you can eat a piece, you must eat it.
  • Consecutive eating chain: If after eating a piece, you can still eat it, you continue eating it.
